Well, yeah its pretty old news, I know but could not think of any other subject to start this blog so here I go again.

Flex 3 is here! Well its open source now

Folks Adobe has release new Flex 3 on Beta and will available to download from
http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flex/sdk/flex3sdk.html, Adobe also plans to release Nightly Builds with bug fixes and enhancements which can be downloaded from same URL.

Now talking about Flex 3 and its features here it is

New Features in Flex 3:

Native support for Adobe AIR – Flex 3 incorporates the Adobe AIR development tools into the SDK and Flex Builder.
This technology is similar to Microsoft’s Smart Client or Java Web Start applications

Advantages:
Small footprint, less memory usage, integrated with desktop
Persistent framework caching
– You can make Flex 3 applications as small as 50K when leveraging the new Flash Player cache for Adobe platform components.
Flex Builder productivity enhancements – Flex Builder 3 introduces refactoring support, new profilers for performance and memory tuning, and code generation tools for data access.
Advanced DataGrid
– The Advanced DataGrid is a new component that adds commonly requested features to the DataGrid such as support for hierarchical data, and basic pivot table functionality.
First steps toward open source Flex.
As a first step toward making Flex an open source project, we’ve opened up the Flex and Flex Builder bug tracking system to the public, as well as published detailed road map information
